Woodbridge, Virginia (November 16, 2006) – In preparation for the 2007 session of the Virginia General Assembly, which will convene Wednesday, January 10, Delegates Robert E. Marshall, Michèle B. McQuigg, Scott Lingamfelter, Jeff Frederick and Jackson Miller, along with Senators Charles J. Colgan, John H. Chichester, Linda “Toddy” Puller, and Jay O’Brien will be hosting two “Town Meetings”. The first will be Wednesday, November 29th in the Prince William County Development Services Building (new building next to McCoart), Room 202 at 7:30 PM. A second will be held Monday, December 4th in City Council Chambers of Manassas City Hall, 9027 Center Street, at 7:00 PM.
Citizens are encouraged to attend to express their opinions on issues, to offer ideas for legislation, and to discuss the outlook and expectations of the legislators for the approaching legislative session. The legislators hold this public meeting annually to solicit concerns from residents on issues affecting them as well as the Commonwealth of Virginia.
This year the delegation has a deadline of December 11th to submit legislative drafting requests with the Division of Legislative Services. After that date members of the House of Delegates may only enter five pieces of legislation, while the Senate may only enter eight bills.
