FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Richmond, Virginia (January 5, 2005) - Today Delegate Jeff Frederick was elected Vice-Chairman of Virginia’s Small Business Commission.

Virginia’s Legislative Small Business Commission is a 14-member commission established in 1995 to study, report and make recommendations on issues of concern to small businesses in the Commonwealth. The committee is made of Senators, Delegates and four Virginia citizens appointed by the Governor for 2 year terms.

"For Virginia to prosper our small businesses must prosper. Virginia’s small businesses are the backbone of our economy and indeed is Virginia's largest employer, so I look forward to helping to lead the Commission in acting on the concerns and challenges small business owners face, and making sure Virginia’s Government lifts up small business instead of holding them back", said Frederick.

Senator Nick Rerras, the Commission's outgoing Chairman was pleased with Frederick's election. "I'd like to congratulate Delegate Frederick on his election as the Vice-Chairman to the state's legislative Small Business Commission. This is a very important commission that helps expand jobs all over Virginia. Jeff is the kind of person we need leading this commission and I look forward to working with him over the next several years," said Rerras.

"Small businesses create over 70% of the new jobs, but we need to work to reduce the burdensome regulation on small business and help them thrive so the future generations can get quality jobs right here in the Commonwealth. Small-businessman Jeff Frederick is just the guy for the job", Rerras commented.

Commission member Delegate Bill Janis added, "As a small businessman himself, Jeff Frederick brings precisely the kind of energy, vision and leadership to this commission that will ensure that the Commonwealth creates through its policies, laws, and regulations a climate that is inviting to small business."

Delegate Jeff Frederick is in his first term representing the 52nd House district which includes all of Quantico, Dumfries, Triangle, Montclair, a small part of Manassas, and most of Woodbridge, Virginia. He is CEO of GXS Strategies, a Virginia-based information and internet technology company he founded in 1998.
