Begins second term with new appointment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Richmond, Virginia -- Fresh into his second term, Delegate Jeff Frederick added a fourth committee assignment to his legislative responsibilities. Speaker William J. Howell appointed Frederick to the powerful House Finance Committee yesterday on the opening day of the 2006 General Assembly session.

“Jeff is talented, focused, and a proven asset to the committees on which he already serves. Having him on the important House Finance Committee not only will help him serve his constituents more effectively, but our entire Commonwealth as well,” Howell said about the appointment. House Majority Leader Morgan Griffith added: “Jeff has proven to be an effective leader in his short time in office, and I know the legislature looks forward to his insight on the finance committee.”

Upon being informed of the news, Frederick expressed excitement about the new opportunity, saying “I’m humbled by the trust my colleagues and our leadership have placed in me to help structure tax policy in the Commonwealth. I look forward to being a strong voice for letting people keep more of what they earn, and providing tax relief to working families in the 52nd district, and across Virginia.” Frederick has a degree in economics from Emory University where he studied tax policy.

Delegate Harry Parrish, the committee’s chairman, said the committee will be fortunate to have Frederick. “I am pleased that Delegate Frederick will be serving along with me on the Finance Committee. I know that he will be a productive member and I look forward to serving with him,” he said.

Frederick will retain his seat on the committees he served on during his first term. Those committees are Health, Welfare, and Institutions; Education; and Privileges and Elections.
